A dental implant is the replacement of teeth with titanium implant bodies and crowns. The implant is placed in the bone of the skull or the jaw and a crown is then built upon this foundation to replace a missing tooth. This procedure might be necessary when a missing tooth has no surrounding teeth to provide such an anchor. Also, multiple teeth can be replaced using multiple implants that are strategically placed. Dentures and partial dentures can also be secured with implants.
